I know some things. I am in spanish one, and we used these purple-pink books called “Realidades” It looks like this:

Also, we saw videos from this compant called Quack.

Really, the best idea for learning Spanish quickly is to have a vocab list of words, spanish on one column, english on the other. Memorize them, and then practice using them in sentences, and speaking them properly.

Check out the Destinos Spanish series. It’s a video series that was made some years ago. It plays out like a telenovela (soap opera) and is specifically design for Spanish learners. The whole thing is acted out by native speakers from different countries so you become used to the different accents and sounds of the language. It’s very good and the series can be watched for free at this website
Another online thing I’d highly recommend is the podcast Coffee Break Spanish. These are 15-20 minute podcast that teach you Spanish and steadily build on what’s been learned lesson after lesson.
Another recommendation I’d give you really want to work on your listening and speaking skills is the SmartSpanish audio CD series. You can find it on Amazon.com. The CDs allow you to listen to native speakers talking during interviews. The first time you listen it seems like they are talking really fast (because it’s done at normal speed, not slowed down like what you hear on most audio tapes). After the first listen they cover the entire interview again at a much slower speed and explain troublesome words and pronunciation. After this you listen to it again at a slower speed and then again at normal speed where it becomes much much easier to understand. I have SmartFrench and I think this series is great.
Last but not least if you are looking to practice with native speakers from the comfort of home check out the website livemocha.com There is a tutorial that explains how the site works and it’s really good.
