I speak Portuguese fluently. What is an inexpensive way to learn Spanish?

Dave S asked:

I live in Portland, OR. I work in health care, and Spanish would really help. I’m trying to be frugal, so I’m looking for inexpensive ways to learn Spanish. I already understand a lot of it because of its similarities with Portuguese.

There is a lot of webpages that can help you. This is one of them:

  • Learn Spanish Words

    PODCASTS!

i can’t even explain how good they are. I’m fluent in Spanish and figured italian would be easy to try, and now i’m pretty decent at italian, even talked to an Italian in an airplane! If you’re fluent in Portuguese, a Spanish podcast shouldn’t be too hard to get you learning it.

if you want to learn to read and write spanish…. just get a book. i don’t think the grammar or spelling of the Spanish language are too hard, just alot of rules.

  • How To Learn Spanish

If you speak Portuguese and wanted to speak Spanish fluently, you’d have plenty of options if you lived in eastern Uruguay, near the border with Brazil. There, people speak Portuñol or Portunhol, and nowadays it’s being taught at Uruguayan public schools.

But on a practical side, there are some websites which can help you. But if I were you, I’d get myself a good Spanish grammar book with audio CDs, record the lessons and listen to them on my way to work.

    I can recommend you get:
    A picture dictionary

    A book for Healthcare Providers

A book of Spanish Grammar with CD

For your verbs, you can use this website

I think it’s better to practice with a native speaker through online interchange.
Another funny way of learning is to listen to your artists singing in Spanish, that is Spanish versions of English language songs. Take a look at:
