Does anyone have any experience with Rosetta Stone Language Software program? ?

jes2008 asked:

I am thinking about buying the Rosetta Stone Spanish software. I would like to know your experiences with the product and its effectiveness. I took two years of Spanish in high school and a semester in college, and am really interested in picking up Spanish again. I see the commercials of Rosetta Stone, and was just wondering if it was worth the money and how it works, etc.

Thanks for your help!

Do you agree with open border lobby that everybody in the world must be allowed to come here for a better life ?Or else it’s discrimination, racial profiling? We can have press up to 700, if not it is discrimination, racial profiling, to leave out all other languages. Also shouldn’t every language be listed on any product the same as Spanish is ,it not,is it, discrimination, racial profiling?

Does it help to read books of the language you are learning?

rooibox asked:

According to a test I am 53% fluent in a particular language (Spanish), which seems about right but you can be sure those things aren’t really that credible. I am at an intermediate level of the language but still don’t have the means to visit it yet. In the past I have tried reading books in the language but usually the first pages overwhelm me and I lose motivation to continue. I got sick of referencing a bilingual dictionary to find out each unknown word.

I’ve recently finished school forever and have some spare time on my hands, so I thought about improving my language skills through story books of those aimed at ages 8-13. Harry Potter in Spanish was a little too advanced and I found this one which looks OK: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060849797/sr=1-15/qid=1258619468/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1258619468&sr=1-15&seller=

So if I do go ahead and read a book, is it good or detrimental to use a dictionary on each unknown word and how exactly could my skills improve from reading and trying to understand it? Would I have to reread it in order to get results?

Why does my shampoo bottle have French language phrases on it?

Lyreceus asked:

Is the manufacturer too cheap to print an English language version for sale in the U.S.?

Does the manufacturer think I will be attracted to a soap product that touts its ‘Frenchness?’

Should I wash my hair with Safeguard in protest?

What’s with the foreign languages on products sold in the English speaking U.S.?

If it was Spanish phrases on the shampoo bottle, it might make sense, in view of the current Mexican invasion of the U.S.

This poses a lot of questions, but do you see what I’m saying, and what do you think about the reasons for my shampoo bottle having foreign languages in its label?
