Learning multiple languages at once

Tsuna asked:

I’ve been to an immersion program for Chinese and took a placement test at school so that I could skip Chinese 1 and go to Chinese 2 Honors. At the same time I’m taking Spanish classes.

I’m using Rosetta Stone, Chinese character books, a tutor etc to stay on top of my Chinese. But, I want to learn French and Italian also.

Is it possible to learn these four languages (Chinese, French, Italian, Spanish) all at once? Probably not…. Spanish and Italian are so freakin much a like.

I know this is becoming somewhat of a stream of consciousness, but I’d like to say I want to learn Arabic, Korean, and Japanese as well.

Is there a limit to how many languages our brain can retain?

Well that went off track a little…

What would be a good way to learn spanish?

Chris asked:

I would like to learn spanish but I don’t really know where to start. What would be a good book/website/program/whatever that would help me learn to speak spanish fluently. It would have to be relatively inexpensive because I’m poor, haha . I’m hoping after I learn spanish I could learn French, Chinese and maybe Italian.
